The Northern Ireland Horse Board has appointed a new
Chairman and Vice-Chairman following elections this week. Taking up the reins at the top is well-known and
highly successful showman and equestrian
centre proprietor, Hugh McCusker, with Diane Harron Eakin, former BBC
journalist and broadcaster and co-founder with her husband of Ringfort Stud, taking the second chair.
The Northern Ireland Horse Board, (which is an affiliated member
with representation on the all-Ireland organisation Horse Sport Ireland), is
the largest and most influential equine lobby in the North with more than 4000 shareholders.
As such it is currently addressing, among other things and
with other interested bodies, the crucial issues facing the equine industry in
Northern Ireland such as horse welfare, traceability of horsemeat in the food
chain, and the issuing of passports.
